How the degree is shaped
Research universities and universities of applied sciences are separate systems with different aims — one leads towards research, the other towards professional practice.
A great many bachelor’s programmes are taught entirely in English.
Some programmes select on published criteria rather than admitting everyone who is eligible.

What Indian applicants are routinely not told
None of this is hidden — it is on the official sites. It is simply not what the material aimed at you leads with.
Choosing between a research university and a university of applied sciences is the first real decision, and the two are not ranked against each other — they lead to different work.
English-taught does not mean the country runs in English day to day; Dutch matters for part-time work and for staying afterwards.
